In the Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication degree courses, students study all the crucial areas of Mass Communications like Reporting and Writing for Print Media, Feature writing, Photography, Advertising and Public Relations, Event Management, New Media, Graphic Design, Anchoring and Electronic Media Production, Media Law, Radio, Media Management and Research. Their perspective is broadened by courses in Indian Economy, Indian Politics, International Relations and Culture & Communication. The students realize the importance of such courses toward the development of lateral thinking employed intelligently in crafting communications.
The Media and Mass Communication Department at GEHU, Dehradun strives to enhance the employability quotient of its graduate and post graduate students by providing them opportunities to interact with eminent members of various domains of media & mass communications. Such interactions enable students to understand the challenges associated with their respective fields be it news journalism, creative writing or media coverage.

Some such notable interactions of the Academic year 2015-16 included Ms Shazia Ilmi (a social activist known for her passion and dedication), Mr. Nitin Bhaduria (an IAS officer) as well as Ms. Mona Verma (a book writer & recipient of the Uttarakhand Ratna Award in 2014)
Recently, the leaders in Print Media in Dehradun, Hindustan, kickstarted a Youth Connect Inititaive marked by Editorin Chief, Mr Shashi Shekhar together with several eminent personalities interacting with students of Media and Mass Communication at Graphic Era Hill University.
