With an intake of 150 students in B.Tech., the curriculum of Computer Science Engineering in the GEHU, Dehradun Campus has been designed to meet the industry requirements and also prepare the students for further study and research as part of PG and PhD program. Course contents are delivered in highly conducive environment having spacious classrooms with LCD projectors, state-of-the-art computing facilities, and a completely Wi-Fi campus. Faculty members actively engage students in learning activities. Resource persons from industry and academia are invited at regular intervals to deliver guest lectures, provide training on latest technologies. Students are encouraged to attend and present their papers in various conferences.

A candidate should have completed in 10+2/ equivalent with Physics, Chemsitry and Mathematics from a reputed Board/ Institution. Admissions will be done on the basis of merit. Counseling session for admission to all B.Tech courses will be announced.

The Department of Computer Science Engineering & Information Technology at GEHU, Dehradun Campus strives to enhance the employability quotient of its students. This is evident in the placement figures for the academic year 2015 where students of B.Tech CSE received job offers from reputed nationala nd international organizations even before graduating from their respective course.

Yashasvi Maken (B.Tech CSE 2012 -16) was offered a position of Software Engineer in Adobe Systems with a joining package of 8 LPA with benefits even before completion of his graduation from Graphic Era Hill University in 2015


The Department focuses on the holistic development of its graduates and post graduates by not only empasizing academic pursuits but by enabling students to stay abreast with the latst trends in the market today as well as the technologies of the future.

Of the many year round interactions, a 1 Day National Conclave on Cyber Security & its Challenges was organized by Uttarakhand Space Application Center (USAC) in association with DComputer Science Engineering & Information Technology at GEHU, Dehradun & Government of Uttarakhand in August, 2015 to discuss preventive measures that can be take to stop Economic Cyber Crimes in the state and in turn the nation. Eminent personalities like the Chief Secretary for the state of Uttarakhand- Sri Rakesh Sharma, Director, USAC & USERC Dr Durgesh Pant, IG of the Technical Unit of Uttarakhand Police- Dr Sadanand Date, Dr Ashok Panjwani of IIT Delhi, Director, Department of Defense, Ashok Kataria, SIO of NIC Satendra Singh were present at this conclave enlightening the students of the reach and pevention of cyber crimes


Additionally, the Department organizes various extra-curicualr activities around the year which inculcates in students integral skills of leadership ability, organizational behaviour and teamwork ability which further prepares them to face the challenges of the corporate world head-on


81 students of GEHU have been certified by Microsoft via their Massively Empowered Classroom (MEC).

Some Achievers of the Department are as listed below:


Lovesh Grover, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU, at the young age of 18 published a paper titled “Weighted Code Approach to Generate Gray Code” which has been accepted for publication in IEEE Potential 2015 issue.


Rohit Joshi, a Computer Science and Engineering post graduate scholar at GEHU, pursuing his thirst for knowledge, and inspired by his mentors to rise and reach out to his potential, wrote a research paper titled Microwave attenuation studies impacted by rain for communication links operating at Tropical regions: A survey. His innovative spirit got recognized on an international scale and his paper selected in the Third International Conference on Advanced Computing in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on February 10, 2015 organized by the World Academy of Research in Science and Engineering (WARSE) with his paper being awarded the “Best Paper” in the conference.


Abhilash Semwal, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU has developed a prototype for “Mobile Bomb Locator Sensor” which has been declared to be the 7th best research project world-wide by Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 organized by IIT Kharagpur. He for his true spirit and vision of innovation has also been bestowed with the title of an Indian Young Scientist at IIT Kharagpur. In addition he was given a 5 Lakh cash prize by the Uttarakhand State Government  presented to him by the Honorable CM, Mr. Harish Rawat. Additionally he was also offered an internship with Steria Pvt Ltd for 10 lakh.


Shubham Aggarwal, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU, has been very proactive in academics and co-curricular activities which can be seen from the fact that he has been certified by Google Analytics Academy in E-commerce Analytics and by Microsoft as well. He has since then been associated with similar initiatives in Graphic Era Hill University having been selected to become a Microsoft Student Associate (MSA). He has also been invited to participate in the Microsoft Student Associate (MSA) program for the year 2014- 2015. Additionally, he has been officially identified as a registered member of the Firefox Student Ambassador Program (“FSA”) which exists under Mozilla Corporation with the mission to promote openness, innovation & opportunity on the Web.



The Department of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology at GEHU, Dehradun aims to enhance the employability factor of its students by adopting a curriculum which, in association with eminent mebers of the academia and industry, reflects the latest trends in the world of Softwares and Development. Additionally, with its year round interactions with distinguished members of the industry and academia as well as industrial visits, this department encourages students to explore beyond the realm of the curriculum.


Advisory Committee meeting of CS & IT department was held in February, 2016. Views of industry experts, Alumni, Parents and present students were taken. Some of the suggestions had been incorporated and others will be implemented soon. Mr. Kamal Rawat, Senior Scientist, Adobe and Mr. Vikas Jain, Chairman of ADHYAN INNOVATIVE LEARNING, Yashashvi Makin , Alumni and parents of students and some of the students themselves suggested the changes needed in the curriculum..


A Debate Competition LIAISE – Be Heard was organized by Students of IT in 2016 where over 30 students spoke in favour of as well as against the topic- “Advertisement Creates Artificial Needs”.


To inculcate in students essential soft skills of leadership, teamwork and time management, which are essential to ease the campus to corporate transition of any young graduate, the Department encourages students to organize and participate in various extra-curricular activities. One such activity organized recently was "Slapstick"- a fun quiz competition which tested students of the University on a myriad of topics ranging from emoticons to brands and their logos.
