The School of Engineering & Technology at GEHU strives to minimize the gap between the corporate and the curriculum by providing opportunities to students to interact with members of the industry and academia around the year to understand the trends and advancements in their respective discipline so as to become better professionals. Some of such interactions organized in recent times have been listed below.

Inauguration of the IETE Chapter for the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering with Dr. R S Pundir, Director, Defense Electronics Applications Laboratory(DEAL), Dehradun. This event additionally interactions with Mr Ashok Kumar Kalra, Scientist-G, DEAL Dehradun on Troposphere Communication & Mr Ajay Kumar Malik, Scientis-G, DEAL Dehradun on EHF satellite communication. Quiz and Poster Presentation competitions were also organized to foster the creativity of the students.
A National Seminar on Improvements in Road Construction Techniques in the Himalayan Regions in association with SERB with Mr. A K Srivastava, Chief Engineer, Ministry of Transport & Highway, Col Prabhakar Kumar, BRO, Mr. Vijay Dangwal, Senior Geologist, PWD-Uttarakhand as the chief guests of this event. . 
A National Seminar on Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Techniques in association with DST with Prof Pradeep Kumar IIT Roorkee
Workshop on Design and Development of Lighter than Air Systems And Principles of Flight Using Chuck Gliders organized by Graphic Era Hill University with Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC), Dehradun in Association with Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC), Dehradun with Technical Expertise & Support offered by Prof. Rajkumar S. Pant, IIT Mumbai.
A 1 Day National Conclave on Cyber Security & its Challenges was organized by Uttarakhand Space Application Center (USAC) in association with Department of Information and Technology, GEHU & Government of Uttarakhand on August 13, 2015 to discuss preventive measures that can be taken to stop Economic Cyber Crimes in the state and in turn the nation. Some of the dignitaries present at this conclave were Sri Rakesh Sharma - The Chief Secretary for the state of Uttarakhand and Chief Guest of the Conclave, Dr. Durgesh Pant-Director, Uttarakhand Space Application Centre and Uttarakhand State Education and Research Council, Dr Sadanand Date -The IG of the Technical Unit of Uttarakhand Police, Dr Ashok Panjwani, IIT Delhi, Ashok Kataria -Director, Department of Defense, Satendra Singh - SIO of NIC, Preetam Dutt to name a few.

52 Students of B.Tech ME visited the Auto Expo Motor Show 2016 at Pragati Maidan, Noida in February, 2016. Additionally, students participated in the challenges “Passion for Innovation”.
“Hackathon Innovation Challenge”, a Code Fest, involving students from all courses and semesters organized in association with the Graphic Era alum association.

143 students of School of Engineering and Technology at GEHU, Dehradun have been inducted into the IETE Chapter started in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at GEHU, Dehradun.IETE with its vision to reach the un-reached and empower the youth through Technical Education and Skill Development, IETE contributes in the nation’s Human Resource & Infrastructure Development through graduating engineers with technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India.


The School of Engineering and Technology at GEHU has been admitted as an Institutional Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education. As a result of this association, ISTE will assist and contribute in the production and development of Top Quality professional engineers needed by the Industry and other organizations and provide guidance and training to students to develop better learning skills and personality.


The School of Engineering and Technology at GEHU has been granted a Life Institutional Membership to the Institution of Engineers on March 2014 which will enable practice of ethical ethos and pursuits of professional excellence for engineering fraternity to serve the humanity through inclusive growth.


The purposes of the Computer Society of India, initiated as early as 1965, has always been scientific and educational growth directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science and IT. The organization has grown to an enviable size of 100,000 strong members consisting of professionals with varied backgrounds including Software developers, Scientists, Academicians, Project Managers, CIO's , CTO's & IT vendors to name just a few. It has spread its branches all over the country. Currently having more than 500 student branches and rooted firmly at 73 different locations, CIS’s idea has been to spread the knowledge, and provide opportunities to as many as possible. GEHU has now become an educational institution member on the 1st of July, 2014 in order to enable graduate and post graduate students an opportunity to interact with their peers from all across the country as well as eminent members of the industry and academia so as to enhance their career and personal development.

Rohit Joshi, a Computer Science and Engineering post graduate scholar at GEHU, pursuing his thirst for knowledge, and inspired by his mentors to rise and reach out to his potential, wrote a research paper titled Microwave attenuation studies impacted by rain for communication links operating at Tropical regions: A survey. His innovative spirit got recognized on an international scale and his paper selected in the Third International Conference on Advanced Computing in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on February 10, 2015 organized by the World Academy of Research in Science and Engineering (WARSE) with his paper being awarded the “Best Paper” in the conference.


TERI (The Energy & Resources Institute) and TERI University had organized a pan-India Inter-University Competition on Water Resources Management. This innovative and competitive project was designed to check students' level of awareness and personal comprehension about water bodies close to their places of residence/study. The competition would thus allow students all over India to develop a multi-stakeholder understanding of the need for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) through direct action and would make the TERI expertise and resources, opportunities for internships, research and networking and specialized mentoring by German experts available to all the participants.

A team from Graphic Era Hill University too participated in this competition. This team comprised of Abhinav Bahuguna of BSc IT, Lavanshi Anand and Shailja Chaurasia of BCom (Hons), and Pratyuesh Kala and Rajat Panwar of B.Tech (CSE and ECE respectively) and have successfully cleared the Stage 1 of the Competition among over 100 teams participating.

This team headed to TERI University, New Delhi to attend a consultative workshop and present their innovative ideas on the same on January 20, 2015. They also had an Open discussion on Water Resource Management with Ms. Fawzia Taranum and Ms. Shivakshi Jasrotia, the mentors assigned to the team to GEHU by TERI University.


Simol Naudiyal, was awarded the Uttarakhand Youth Icon National Award by the Former Chief Minister, Sri Harish Rawat for developing a technology for Disaster Management and Rescue Mapping of Kedarnath Valley using GIS and remote sensing.


Jyoti Negi (B.Tech- ECE) was accepted for the Science Academies Summer Research Fellowship Programme at IIT Mumbai.


Abhilash Semwal, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU has developed a prototype for “Mobile Bomb Locator Sensor” which has been declared to be the 7th best research project world-wide by Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2014 organized by IIT Kharagpur.

He for his true spirit and vision of innovation has also been bestowed with the title of an Indian Young Scientist at IIT Kharagpur. In addition he was given a 5 lakh cash prize by the Uttarakhand State Government presented to him by the Honorable CM, Mr. Harish Rawat. Additionally, he was also offered an internship with Steria Pvt. Ltd. for 10 lakh.


Students of Electronics and Communication Engineering from the academic year 2011-2014 of GEHU had participated in the Texas Instrument's Innovation Challenge 2015 aimed at promoting IC-based system design among student community. 2 teams of GEHU have qualified for the quarter final round of the same. The first team comprising of Akanksha Gulati, Apurva Garg and Naina Agarwal have made a project on "Smart Crop Monitoring based on soil nutrients". The second team, comprising of Ishan Sharma, Rajni Bhatt, Himani Joshi and Sumit Kukreti, have designed a project on "Loco Gatling Gunner Assembly". Both these teams worked under the direct supervision of Mr. Rahul Chauhan, a faculty in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Over 2 thousand teams from all across India have participated in the competition and the team of students from GEHU were among the top 100 teams to have qualified in the quarter final round. Each team has received 15,000 INR as euipmwnts from Texas Instrumentation for their corresponding projects. The winners of this challenge will receive a total of $10,000 and an internship opportunity at Texas Instruments, Texas (USA)


Students of Computer Science & Engineering at GEHU have been ranked among the top 1000 teams in Infosys Aspirations 2020 among the 25000+ teams participating.


Shubham Aggarwal, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU, has been very proactive in academics and co-curricular activities which can be seen from the fact that he has been certified by Google Analytics Academy in E-commerce Analytics and by Microsoft as well. He has since then been associated with similar initiatives in Graphic Era Hill University having been selected to become a Microsoft Student Associate (MSA). He has also been invited to participate in the Microsoft Student Associate (MSA) program for the year 2014- 2015. Additionally, he has been officially identified as a registered member of the Firefox Student Ambassador Program (“FSA”) which exists under Mozilla Corporation with the mission to promote openness, innovation & opportunity on the Web.



Lovesh Grover, a Computer Science & Engineering student of GEHU, at the young age of 18 published a paper titled “Weighted Code Approach to Generate Gray Code” which has been published in IEEE Potential.



Abhishek Baunthiyal (B.Tech ME), became the winner of the Event “USP the Survivor 4” held in April 2016- an Inter College Competition where 7000 students participated consisting of many rounds such as Group Debate, Logo identification, Mock Press, Entrepreneurship Round, Athletics Round and the final Round- an Extreme Pressure Personal Interview with a panel of 40 judges. He additionally received a cash prize of Rs 50,000.


Students of Mechanical Engineering at GEHU won the inter-university quiz “Brainwave” and were awarded a cheque for 1 Lakh presented by our Hon’ Chancellor, Prof. Kamal Ghanshala.

  81 students of GEHU have been certified by Microsoft via their Massively Empowered Classroom (MEC).

GEHU is now a community partner of Microsoft!



GEHU’s two students of CSE, Aman Deep and Rahul Bhardwaj, visited Russia and Cairo, Egypt respectively in June 2014 for an International internship via GEHU’s collaboration with AIESEC in Dehradun.

  7 students from GEHU Mechanical Engineering, Mukul Tomar, Salman Ahemed, Divyanshu Bharadwaj, Nitin Jawla, Nikhil Shukla, Mr Vicky Manral & Mr Nitin Joshi visited the India Japan Lighting (Bawal Plant), India Nippon Electrical (Rewari Plant) and Lucas TVS (Pant Nagar and Rewari Plant) for a month long extensive internship with the industry itself where they became part of the industry and operational processes. 

Students of School of Engineering & Technology at GEHU; Aparna Thapa, Shatansh Saxena, Pulkit Tomar, Piyush Pant; and other members of the theater group secured the First Prize as well as the Best Script award for their play on "Consumer Rights" in 'Muktangan'- the inter college street play (Nukkad Natak) fest organized at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. GEHU among the various other schools and colleges participating.


Rishabh Tomar (CSE 2011-15, GEHU Dehradun) has proved his excelllence in sports winning the Gold Medal at the "All Iindia Shoto Cup Karate-Do Championship 2014" organized by Shotokan Karate-Do International European Federation in Amritsar.


GEHU recognizes the "star" factor in students as well and encourages them to participate in events beyond the scope of the curriculum to explore their dreams in other domains as well and reach heights in their field of interest. Ms Chetna Anand of B.Tech CSE, GEHU Dehradun was awarded the Miss Uttarakhand/Photogenic 2014 presented by Raj New Era fashion photographer in December, 2014.
