The department runs a state-of-the-art Media Production Studio equipped with the latest technologies that are currently being used in the media industry. The TV studio has a shooting floor for multi-camera productions, adequate number of cameras for digital still photography, and high-definition video cameras with accessories for outdoor shoots. Other essentials include:
- Adobe software
- Avid Media Composer
- Final Cut Pro non-linear editing machines
Additional facilities include digital audio work stations, sound recording and editing facilities, multimedia lab with relevant software for print journalism like Quark Express and still photography units. Experts from the industry supervise and hone the editing skills of students.
The department also publishes a campus newspaper which is completely and independently produced by mass communication students. Students work in teams to cover important events, write and edit stories, do photojournalistic pieces and design the pages.
A Community Radio station is also being set-up in the university campus and will be run by the Mass communication department. Students will be doing program production for the radio station and will learn all aspects like radio jockeying, preparing scripts and how to conduct live phone-in shows.
"A Bird Can Fly Only When It Is Given a Sky".... is the motto of our Media and Mass Communication Department. Keeping with the liberal arts foundations of the discipline, the department is a part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Graphic Era University.
