School students from Nainital, Haldwani, and Bhimtal came together at Graphic Era Hill University Bhimtal to compete in an inter-school Storytelling Competition organized by the WordWhims Club of the campus.
The event started with Club Faculty Coordinator welcoming the judges and participants, followed by a soulful rendition of Gandhi’s favorite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan..’ embodying his ideal of understanding others’ pain and sorrow. The rendering by Kasak, Parv, and Ravi set the tone for what was to follow… Storytelling.
The soul of the stories centered on Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting his unwavering commitment to non-violence, truth, and self-discipline — principles that guided his peaceful resistance against oppression. The storytelling by the contestants, each one being exceptional, made the task of judging difficult for the panel of judges that had Mr. Vinay Kerr, Dr. Nidhi Bhatt Pant, and Mr. Lalit Singh.
In a closely contested competition, Ansh from Woodbridge School Bhimtal came first, followed by Chayanika of Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidya Mandir Nainital and Avantika, also of Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidya Mandir. All other contestants, who came from Lakes International, Bhimtal, Sainik School, Ghorakhal, Hermann Gmeiner, Bhimtal, Woodbridge School, Bhimtal, and Mohan Lal Sah Bal Vidya Mandir, Nainital, were given certificates of appreciation. Neha, Himani, and Saumya were the winners of the GEHU inter-campus competition.
The judges, in their speech, struck a perfect balance between constructive feedback and enriching praise, leaving the audience both enlightened and inspired. The Director of the University, in his speech, fostered a sense of accomplishment and the belief that, regardless of the outcome, every participant's contribution held immense value.
Club President Ishita anchored the event, and Vice President Ayush gave the vote of thanks. After the event, Campus Ambassadors Pranita and Divya took all the contestants for a tour of the campus in e-vehicles before being treated to sumptuous refreshments, while judges and teachers had informal interaction over high tea at the canteen gazebo. This event was initiated by PCPDP Faculty Maya G. Pillai.
