The Department of Physics at Graphic Era Hill University (GEHU) is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories designed to provide students with a strong practical foundation in core areas of physics. The department presents well-furnished and fully functional laboratories dedicated to Optics, Electricity and Magnetism, Electronics, Mechanics, and Modern Physics. Each lab is outfitted with modern instruments and apparatus that facilitate hands-on experimentation and deep understanding of fundamental and advanced physical concepts. The Optics lab enables students to explore the behavior of light through experiments. In contrast, the Electricity and Magnetism lab provides equipment for studying electric circuits, electromagnetic fields, and related phenomena. The Electronics lab supports the learning of both analog and digital electronics. In the Mechanics lab, students investigate the laws of motion, energy, and dynamics using precise mechanical setups. Additionally, the Modern Physics lab offers exposure to experiments related to quantum mechanics, atomic physics, and nuclear phenomena. Together, these well-equipped facilities ensure a comprehensive and experiential learning environment that aligns with both academic and research-based goals.
The Graphic Era Hill University has always been a great upholder of innovation and academic excellence. To achieve distinction in all fields related to student welfare, the University never left any stone unturned. Under this initiative, a dedicated and functional laboratory was established in the Department of Physics, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). This unique establishment is the only laboratory nationwide named the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) cell. The APhO Cell is equipped with various innovative physics experiments developed internationally and aims to spread awareness of the highly prestigious Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) international competition. The national APhO Cell was established in the Department of Physics, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun campus, in July 2023. The Asian Physics Olympiad cell has the vision of making students more interested in physics with innovative learning methods and providing an environment where they can explore various physics experiments independently and become more independent. The APhO cell activities allow students to realize the level of intellect of multiple participants of previous APhO examinations and take inspiration from it. The APhO Cell, Department of Physics, Graphic Era Hill University, and Dehradun Campus have several experimental setups that have been part of the APhO examination for the last ten years. These experiments are provided every year by APhO organizing countries to the participating countries as a symbol of remembrance and are listed below:
