Fundamentals in Plasma Physics, High Power Laser-Matter Interaction, Plasmonics, Laser-Matter Based Radiation Generation (Terahertz Generation), Terahertz Plasmonics, Laser Driven Particle Acceleration.
Mr. Avijit Chamoli joined the Ph.D. program in Physics at Graphic Era Hill University in January 2022, driven by a deep passion for scientific research and innovation. His doctoral work, conducted in collaboration with the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi, under the supervision of Dr. Amit Raj Singh (Supervisor-GEHU) and Prof. D. N. Gupta (Co Supervisor- DU), focuses on the generation of Terahertz (THz) radiation from excited surface plasma waves on metallic surfaces. His research explores the underlying physics of laser–matter interactions and contributes to advancing the understanding of THz radiation mechanisms. He has recently submitted his doctoral thesis for evaluation.
During the course of his Ph.D., Mr. Chamoli has published three research papers in SCI-indexed peer-reviewed journals and one in a Scopus-indexed peer-reviewed journal, reflecting the quality and impact of his scientific contributions. His research excellence was further recognized when he was nominated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to attend the Joint ICTP–IAEA Fusion Energy School 2024 at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy—an opportunity that broadened his academic and international exposure.
Alongside his research pursuits, Mr. Chamoli has made significant contributions to physics education and Olympiad training. As a resource person at the IAPT–APhO Lab, he has trained participants for the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) by providing hands-on experience with experimental problems from previous Olympiads. He also conducts Performance-Based Olympiad Level Experiments (POLLEX) workshops for students of Classes 11 and 12, aimed at cultivating scientific curiosity and promoting awareness of Olympiad-level experimental physics. Through these initiatives, he continues to motivate and guide students to participate in the National Standard Examination conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
