Pushing the boundaries of conventional academic discourse, the Department of English at Graphic Era Hill University hosted a thought-provoking keynote session titled “Are Scientific and Literary Truths Even Really at Odds?” by renowned cognitive scientist Dr. J. Scott Jordan. Known for his pioneering Wild Systems Theory (WST), Dr. Jordan led a compelling dialogue that redefined the traditional binary of scientific objectivity and literary subjectivity.
He emphasized that both realms of knowledge—science and literature—are united by the human pursuit of coherence and meaning. Advocating for a transdisciplinary approach, he illustrated how integrating sciences, humanities, arts, and popular culture can yield a deeper understanding of truth and the human experience. The session was attended by faculty and students from the Departments of English and Media & Mass Communication, sparking engaging discussions and critical reflection. This expert talk successfully encouraged participants to explore the intersections of knowledge, creativity, and cognition.
