The Department of Fashion Design at Graphic Era Hill University hosted a remarkable event, "Tasva," highlighting the innovative and sustainable fashion collections created by the students. The event, graced by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Jasola and
Head of the Department Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Chhabra, celebrated the creative efforts of students who designed garments with a focus on sustainability.
The evening’s Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjanaa Jon, a renowned celebrity designer, filmmaker, and social activist, inspired attendees with her commitment to social causes such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaigns. The collections showcased at
"Tasva" were rooted in the principles of sustainability, aligning with SDGs 3, 9, 12, and 13. Highlights included "Astitva" by Shrishtha Bhandari and "Taana-Baana" by Shruti Tiwari and Nikita Rawat, featuring eco-friendly Nettle fabric sourced from the indigenous Kandali plant of
Uttarakhand. Other notable collections included "Pre-a-closet," "Verve," and "Urbane Chic," all promoting the circular economy and eco-conscious fashion.
