RAWE 2024 – Dehradun Bridging Theory and Practice in Agriculture

On August 20, 2024, Graphic Era Hill University launched the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) program for the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Batch of 2021-2025, with an orientation session marking the beginning of this vital component of their degree. Dr. Neelam Basera, RAWE Coordinator, delivered an inspiring inaugural speech, emphasizing the importance of integrating classroom learning with real-world field experiences. Dr. Basera urged students to embrace the opportunities provided by the RAWE program to gain practical insights into rural agricultural practices. The session continued with guidance from Dr. Arvind Singh Negi, Head of the Department, who outlined the course structure and underscored the significance of a sincere approach to learning. This year's RAWE orientation underscores Graphic Era’s commitment to providing students with invaluable practical exposure across its campuses in Bhimtal, Haldwani, and Dehradun.

Along with this final-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students embarked on an insightful village attachment as part of the Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) program at Banjarawala village. Guided by Dr. Neelam Basera (RAWE Coordinator), Dr. Manpreet Singh, and Dr. Kumar Gaurav (Unit Heads), the students actively engaged with Gram Pradhan Mr. Mukesh Saini and local villagers, fostering a collaborative environment for learning.

Through transect walks and rapport-building exercises, students gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of rural life and village dynamics. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world challenges, emphasizing the importance of understanding community practices in agriculture. The interaction with local stakeholders not only enriched their academic journey but also enhanced their practical skills, preparing them to tackle future agricultural challenges effectively.
